Tutors play a vital role in the development of badminton. They are the persons who educated new coaches by sharing their valuable experiences with the candidates on the courses. Badminton Europe and BWF are organising Tutor courses to educate new Tutors who can play a role in the Coach Education systems within our Members. It is the strategy of Badminton Europe to make our Members as self sufficient as possible so that they can offer coach education courses themselves.

Badminton Europe and BWF are organising the following courses:

BWF Coach Education Level 1 Tutor course.

This is a 4 days course. To participate in the course you have to be an experienced BWF Coach Education level 1 Coach and have completed the Coach Education level 1 online component. Candidates who pass the course become a BWF Coach Education Level 1 Tutor upon a successful delivery of a first course (ideally within six months after completing the Tutor course) and have the following competencies:

GENERAL

  • Coach educators with high level presentation skills.
  • Experienced in planning and delivering workshops and courses for adults / coaches.
  • Well organised and a confident communicator.
  • Confident badminton player and coach with a very good technical and practical knowledge of the sport.
  • Understand assessment in training and can set up assessment tasks to see if ‘learners’ achieve learning outcomes and demonstrate competencies.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Has a very good knowledge of the theory and practice of badminton.
  • Has a very good understanding of the Coach Level 1 resources - the goals of the programme, course material and content - Coaches Manual,supplementary material, assessment tasks and activities

ABLE TO:

  • Plan and deliver a training course for coaches seeking the BWF Level 1 Coaches Award.
  • Effectively communicate, organize and manage groups in a training context.
  • Use a variety of teaching / learning methods in training sessions.
  • Systematically assess candidates and provide face to face feedback on progress.
  • Evaluate training plans and training courses.
  • Apply/follow standards – training and assessment.

 

BWF Coach Education Level 2 Tutor course.

This is a 4 days course. To participate in the course you have to be an experienced BWF Coach Education level 1 Tutor (must have run at least three CE1 courses) and be an experienced BWF Coach Education level 2 Coach. Candidates who pass the course become a BWF Coach Education Level 2 Tutor upon a successful delivery of a first course (ideally within six months after completing the Tutor course) and have the following competencies:

  • Administration: Describe + follow the administrative procedures for the BWF Level 2 Coach course: pre-, during and post-course.
  • Planning: Plan course delivery effectively
  • Delivery: Adhere to the BWF Code of Conduct, under the headings of: respecting participants, tutoring responsibly, building + maintaining relationships and respecting the sport.
  • Delivery: Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the level 1 and 2 course content, under the headings of: how to coach, when to coach, what to coach (technical, tactical, physical, psychological + lifestyle)
  • Delivery: Use a variety of tutor delivery skills, adapted to meet the needs of different learners’ preferred learning styles
  • Self review: Can review own tutoring practice accurately
  • Self evaluation: Can evaluate own tutoring practice
  • Coach review: Review coach performance accurately
  • Coach evaluation: Evaluate coach performance accurately
  • Feedback (to coach): Feedback assessment decisions using a 360 degrees feedback model
