BWF Level 1, 2, 3
Badminton Europe, in partnership with the Badminton World Federation (BWF), offers a structured certification program for trainers and tutors at three levels. These certifications ensure high coaching standards across Europe, helping to develop skilled coaches and elevate the sport.
Level 1 – Foundation-level training for aspiring coaches, covering fundamental skills and coaching principles.
Level 2 – Advanced certification focusing on player development, tactical strategies, and in-depth coaching methodologies.
Level 3 – The highest level of certification, preparing elite trainers to work with top athletes and lead high-performance coaching programs.

The resources are:
- Coaches’ Manual – it encompasses 11 modules – highlighting in more depth the HOW to Coach, WHEN to Coach and WHAT to Coach - click here
- Tutors’ Manual – a Coach Educator/Tutors’ booklet for delivering the Level 2 course
- Video Clips – supporting video clips, which gives a demonstration of the exercises covered in the Coaches Manual. It covers the technical, physical testing and the physical training aspects - click here
BWF Level 3
The BWF Coach Education Level 3 is a Specialised Coaching Award, aimed at badminton coaches who are interested in talent development systems and elite coaching.
The manual, which is FREE to download, addresses:
- Coaching Systems – looking at the pathway from initial talent identification through to elite-level play
- Youth Development Models – how to support and guide talent development in young players
- Elite Coaching – how to use the unique characteristics of elite players to support their development
- Tools to support coaches in advancing the skills of their players at different stages
The Level 3 manual is currently available in English and Spanish.
