Shuttle Time

“Giving every child the chance to play badminton for life” is BWF´s Shuttle Time slogan. Shuttle Time is a school’s badminton programme supporting the principle that children should lead a healthy and active life, both in and out of school. BWF’s goal is to make badminton one of the world’s most popular and accessible school sports.
Shuttle Time is a programme for teachers, physical education staff and sports coaches around the world. It supports the teaching of enjoyable, safe and inclusive badminton activities. It is suitable for children aged 3-18 years old including those with a physical or intellectual disability. And it is designed to provide children with a positive image of sport and to have fun, to engage with others, to experience success and to develop fundamental sports skills.
Badminton Europe is helping its Members with the implementation of Shuttle Time with the goal of growing the sport in the European countries.
The Shuttle Time resources are free available online in multiple languages.
The following resources and courses are available (the resources are free available online in multiple languages):
- Teachers’ Manual – 10 modules that show how to plan and deliver badminton lessons.
- 22 Lessons Plan – in four sections, beginning with 10 Starter Lessons for pupils with little or no badminton experience.
- 92 Videos Clips – instructional video clips which shows the activities in the Lesson Plans.
- Mobile App – all the above Shuttle Time resources in an easy-to-use app.
- Implementation Guidelines – for national federations to systematically implement Shuttle Time nationally.

ONLINE COMPONENT
- Introduces users to badminton and Shuttle Time
- Provide easy access to the theoretical aspects of the programme.
- Reduce the requirement for participants to attend a full one-day Shuttle Time course, through the provision of blended, online and face-to-face learning.
- The online component presents the content of the Shuttle Time in a modern and interactive manner.
YOUTH LEADERS WORKSHOP
- Allow 16-18 years old school students the opportunity to gain experience in sports leadership and badminton through Shuttle Time.
- Provide students with the knowledge and support required to deliver badminton lessons to groups of school pupils.
- The duration of course is flexible and can be delivered in a variety of formats to suit the needs of schools, teachers and students.
UNIVERSITY COURSE
- Offers International Certification to trainee teaching students, while providing the knowledge and support required to deliver fun, safe, enjoyable and inclusive badminton lessons to groups of children aged 3-18.
- Covers both theory and practical work and is delivered in a modular format.
- The course is most suitable for university and college students undertaking teaching, physical education and sports related courses.
- The duration of course is flexible and can be delivered in a variety of formats to suit the needs of the university, lecturers and students.
TUTOR COURSE
The Shuttle Time Tutor course is a course for experienced Shuttle Time Teachers who love to learn how to educate new Shuttle Time Teachers. Candidates for the courses are most likely badminton coaches, or Pe teachers with badminton experience and ideally with a schools /teaching or badminton background. They are familiar with the resources and teaching situations – badminton in schools. The Tutor training Course is a two day course (in some cases, three days) designed to build skills and knowledge for tutors to deliver the one day teacher training courses. The courses for tutors are delivered by Shuttle Time Trainers.
