Spain’s Carolina Marin continues to make progress up the rankings and now moves into the top 10, following a commanding title win at the Italian International. Marin was there for points and was able to come away with the maximum amount. Now she will hope to continue her return to the top in 2020.
Mia Blichfeldt also climbed one spot higher to 13, following a second-round result at the Fuzhou China Open.
The chase is on
The new men’s doubles partnerships of Mathias Boe and Mads Conrad-Petersen have quickly jumped up the rankings and currently stand at number 20. The two most recent quarterfinal displays at the Hong Kong Open and the Syed Modi International have greatly helped their progress. At the Christmas break, the number one Danish pair are Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen at 13.
On the English mixed doubles road to Tokyo, the margins are minimal. European Games champions, Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith currently sit in tenth. But just behind in eleventh are Chris and Gabby Adcock. Ellis and Smith received an excellent ranking boost in their last tournament by reaching the final of the Syed Modi International.
It will be all to play for in 2020.
