The Swiss Open concluded this weekend, and those who watched were treated to double European gold. Each of the victories were impressive for different reasons.

Ben Lane/ Sean Vendy

The English pair began the day by already being in their first Super 300 tournament final. As the number eight seed, they were up against the top seeds. A second-place finish would have been commendable but they didn't settle for that. The thrilling contest lasted over an hour, despite being only two games. At 20-20 in the final game, Sean Vendy appeared to be injured with a twisted ankle. However, after receiving medical attention, he got back on his feet, and the pair managed to win the contest 28-26.

Carolina Marin
Carolina Marin faced Indonesian player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, whom she has struggled with in the past, having lost her last two confrontations against her.

The match could have gone either way. In the final game, Carolina was trailing by 6 points, but she kept her composure and quickly made a comeback. In the end, she was able to raise the title above her head for the second consecutive time in just two weeks. Undefeated, she will now head to the Madrid Masters, hoping to make it three consecutive victories.
