The RSL BEC Para Badminton Event 2023 concluded on a high note last Sunday, with the enthusiasm of aspiring coaches and administrators marking a great ending to the fruitful three days in Sardinia.

This developmental event, comprising the BWF Disability Coaching Workshop, Level 1 and an Administrator's course, not only showcased the willingness to foster the growth of Para badminton but also left a mark on the participants and in the sport of the picturesque island.

The air was filled with a spirit of collaboration. Tommi Saksa, Development and High Performance Officer at Badminton Europe, delivered the Administrators' Course alongside Development & High Performance Manager Jeroen van Dijk. Reflecting on the success, Saksa expressed, "The RSL BEC Para Event 2023 was a success. The host was very welcoming, and we worked together to deliver a great event for the participants. We would like to thank the Sardinian Regional Federation for an amazing collaboration."

“I am satisfied with the outcome. At the Administrators’ course, the participants had a lot of fruitful discussions and networking. Hopefully, they will continue working together after the event as well,” added Saksa.

Kaity Hall, the Expert from Scotland delivering the Coaches course, lauded the event, stating, "I think Badminton Europe always put on an excellent event. The hosts have done a wonderful job at setting up the hall and the courses, and the candidates are excellent as usual – they are very enthusiastic and willing to learn. One of the strategic aims globally is to produce more, better coaches and administrators. This is a great part of that.”

Tove Söderdahl, a participant in the Administrators’ course from Sweden, shared the evolution of her experience, having participated in the Coach course of the 2021 edition of the Para Event: "The big difference is that now we can talk more about the administrator aspects of how we do it in our own countries, not on the court but behind the courts, and that’s really good." “We can learn a lot from each other,” added Oscar Fahlström, a fellow participant from Sweden.

Dario Milacek, from Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressed the thirst for knowledge, saying, "We come from a country where we don’t have a lot of experience in Para badminton. We want different knowledge from the other countries to use it in our own. There are really good coaches in this course and event."

Another edition of the RSL BEC Para Event concludes, having reached into the hearts of those passionate about fostering inclusivity and excellence in Para badminton.
