Azerbaijan Badminton Federation wins the European Fair Play Movement award

The 2023 hosts of the BEC Congress have been awarded the European Fair Play Movement award in “Spirit of Fair Play”.

Azerbaijan Badminton Federation won the European Fair Play Movement (EFPM) award in “Spirit of Fair Play” nomination for its initiatives in preserving ethical values and Fair Play ideas. The EFPM award ceremony of International Olympic Committee on the topic "The European Fair Play Plaque of Merit and Diploma" was held on November 3 and 4 in Rome, Italy.

Azerbaijan Badminton Federation has successfully initiated a number of initiatives supporting groups with special needs and socially disadvantaged children and youngsters. Among them were a Virtual Reality (VR) badminton program for people with physical disabilities, which enabled them to play badminton virtually, and the initiative called “Sport is Life!” for teenagers at the State Correctional Facility in Baku city. These initiatives help raise awareness about the physical and social benefits of badminton as well as promote the accessible nature of this sport for everyone.

The award was received by Aydan Mammadhasanova, marketing manager of the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation, who thanked EFPM organising committee for the Fair Play award and stressed the growing interestand popularity of badminton in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan will be next year’s hosts of the BEC Congress, to be held in Baku on the 21th and 22nd April 2023.
