Only four weeks until the European Men’s & Women's Team Championships (EMWTC) begins! This year it takes place in France. The city of Liévin (Northern France) will host the competition from the 11 to 16 of February 2020. It will be one of the biggest badminton events in Europe this year.
A record number of teams were entered, with 34 men’s teams and 29 women’s teams.
In the six days, the teams will fight to be officially crowned the best male and female national teams in Europe. At the same time, the event works as the European qualification event towards the Thomas & Uber Cup Finals.
Last time the EMWTC was held, was in Kazan, Russia. Below you can see the medallists from 2018.

Tamara Geeraerts, the Events Manager at Badminton Europe, had this to say about the EMWTC
- The 2020 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships in France will be the biggest ever in its current format. Spectators can expect to see World Championship, Olympic and European Games medalists competing on their highest level while preparing for Tokyo 2020. Hosting this tournament in a badminton country like France and in the magnificent venue of Arena Stade Couvert de Liévin, will create an amazing atmosphere for all those present to witness it, she says.
At the same times as the EMWTC, the European U15 Championships will be held from 14 to 16 of February also in Liévin, France.
