The European Games are now just days away and a number of Badminton’s top stars are ready to go for the competition in Minsk next week.
The games are set to be one of the biggest tournaments of the year and could go a long way in determining some of the contenders in next Summer’s Olympic Games.
Blichfeldt vs Kjaersfeldt?
Two Danish players could be going head to head for the Women’s Singles title in Minsk.
Reigning champion Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt and her compatriot Mia Blichfeldt are the top two seeds for the European Games and the Danish faithful will be hoping that at least one of them can bring home the title for team Denmark.
If they both make it to the final it will be the second time the pair have met in a major final this year after the Spanish Masters Final in February, in the Super 300 event. On that occasion, it was Blichfeldt that came out on top with a 21-14, 21-14 win over her compatriot but Kjaersfeldt will be desperate to regain her title.
Who else could take the title?
Despite the Danes being the favourites for the event there are plenty of other top competitors also making their way to Belarus all hoping to oust them in order to take home the title for their respective nations.
One of them is Neslihan Yigit who is the only Turkish player that is seeded across the five categories so the nation will be desperate for her to make an impact at the games.
Yigit is seeded 7th for the tournament but is coming off a disappointing opening round defeat to Estonia’s Kristin Kubba at the Spanish International last week so will be hoping to bounce back with a strong performance in Minsk.
