The BEC's Women in Badminton working group announced the nominees for the 2013 BEC Women in Badminton Awards. For the Women in Badminton "Person of the year" Award, Nora Perry (England), Christine Black (Scotland) and Athanasia Giakouvaki (Greece) were nominated. Former international top player Kirsten Larsen (Denmark) was last year's winner.
For the Women in Badminton "Project of The Year" Award, the School Project in Romania (Shuttle Time implentation in 88 Romanian schools) and the Espoo Women’s Open – A Tournament for All Girls and Women in Finland have been nominated. Last edition's winner was the Girls Project in Serbia.
'I was personally delighted with the standard of applications for this years WIB Awards and I would like to thank those who were nominated or involved with the nominated projects for their hard work in improving the position of women within European Badminton. The WIB Awards seek to highlight and celebrate the achievements and promotion of women within European Badminton and I would also like to extend my thanks to the Member Associations for taking the time to nominate and support this initiative. I look forward to Dublin and the unveiling of the 2014 WIB Award winners!', says Emma Mason, Chair of the WiB working group.
The winners will be announed at the 2nd BEC Awards Gala being held Saturday, 12 April 2014 in Dublin, Ireland.
