The first day of the German Open 2019 in Muelheim an der Ruhr is finished. The matches of the qualification rounds were played, as well as half first round mixed doubles matches in main draw.

In the first round of mixed rounds, top German pair Marvin Emil Seidel and Linda Efler did not succeed to proceed to the next round. They lost to Mikkel Mikkelsen and Mai Surrow in three games.

- Unfortunately the match didn’t go as planned. We couldn’t catch up with our expectations and right now we are very disappointed, Seidel stated to Badminton Europe after his match

The other German pair Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich also fell short in their match. They lost to second seeded pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai (Thailand).

Better in doubles

- I really hope that I can perform better in doubles tomorrow, so I can give something back to the spectators who are coming to see us play good badminton, Seidel continued.

With Lamsfuss, Seidel will face Polish pair Adam Cwalina and Milosz Bochat, who won their match in qualification.

- Of course it is nice to play on home soil, but loosing here is even more disappointing than in other countries.
