Today, Badminton Europe has released another BEC Podcast episode, which is available on Facebook and YouTube, and also available to listen to on SoundCloud, Spotify and iTunes.

This episode features the English Mixed Doubles powerhouse, Chris and Gabrielle Adcock, who took their time to visit the BEC studio at the Denmark Open.

The back to back European Champions speak to our on-screen presenter, Rasmus Bech, about their year as a whole in 2018 and all that they thought they would not experience due to injuries.

Perspectives and reality checks

The couple from England also shares some very heartwarming stories in the BEC Podcast.

When we were away competing in Huelva, I got a phone call that my two-year-old niece was sick, Gabrielle Adcock told Badminton Europe.

It was literally the quarter-final day of the Europeans, which is why it looked like we were in a little bit of a daze and a few people did not realize what was going on, Chris Adcock added.

- I think once you win something like the European Championships, it is almost like the monkey off your back. It almost gave us some perspective, about what was really important. I thought we were going to go home, to be honest, he said.

- The tournament this year in Huelva, it was a roller-coaster ride for sure. To come out on top was again an amazing final, and we were very happy to come through it with another title, he added.

Injuries and injuries

From the start of 2018, there were injury problems for the Adcocks, when Gabrielle Adcock sustained an ankle injury which she worked very hard to come out of, especially when the couple thought that it was the end of the year for them.

The 28-year-old revealed to Badminton Europe that she still, to this day, does not know how she played through the pain in the thumb at the All England.

- Starting out with my ankle injury in the India League was not the best way to start. Knowing that, we had two, well, three with World Championships involved, major tournaments to try and defend our title, Gabrielle Adcock said.

- We did not start out great and then, we become Commonwealth Champions, which we were not expecting that at all, she added.

- I did one ligament, in my thumb after warming up for the match at All England. I do not know how I played that quarter-final, I think I ran off adrenalin.

Something to look out for

The couple speaks in the podcast about how their social media blog promotion is going and how important their fans are.
