After two days of an education course for over twenty para-badminton participants who have learnt a lot at the para-event in Vienna.
A variety of participants who want to be coaches and also those who want to be administrators.
Day one: An interesting introduction
On Friday 16 November the course started for both sets of participants, the coaches side lead by Kaity Hall who is on the para-badminton coaching team for Scotland and Dina Abouzeid Sariñena.
Both sessions started with the participants getting to know each other and this really did have a positive impact on the rest of the course
The coaches spent a lot of time on the court and placing themselves in para player’s shoes and playing badminton in wheelchairs and practising different disabilities, from the six disability classifications.
The administrators had a more of a sit-down session and watched presentations from a number of experts including Badminton Europe’s Development Senior Manager Jimmy Andersen and also the General Secretary of the Austrian Badminton Federation, Michael Dickert.
Day Two: Assess and summarise
Day two of the course consisted of the administrative section summarising day one and then going more into detail about para-badminton whereas the coaches in the sports hall had a lot of group activities and their assessments with Kaity Hall and Dina Abouzeid Sariñena.
The end of the two days was brought to a close on Saturday afternoon with some fun and games in the sports hall before everyone headed out to the City Centre of Vienna to enjoy a closing meal together.
