Even before the finals commenced at the 2013 edition of the Polish International in Lubin, the clean sweep of all five events was on the cards for the travelling Chinese Taipei team. Only Indonesian men’s doubles pair of Rusdianto and Wardhana could prevent the Taiwanese from achieving the historic milestone but failed in the most exciting final of the afternoon.

The Indonesians managed to take the new exciting pair of Chen and Wang into a deciding set but ultimately lacked the fire power to trouble the Taiwanese and Chen and Wang made the clean sweep a reality with a 21-14 win in the deciding set.

“We are happy to win here in Poland and we have enjoyed the people and the tournament” commented Wang after the victory.”

No Hat Trick for Hsu Ya Ching

Coming into today’s final all the focus of attention was on the attempt of Hsu Ya Ching to achieve the almost unheard of hat trick of victories in an International tournament. Hsu got off to the best possible start taking the mixed doubles alongside partner Hsuan Chia Lin and look on course to lift the women’s singles leading 16-10 in the deciding set.

However the gutsy Cheng Chi Ya, finalist in Belgium last week, made a miraculous comeback to leave Hsu holding her head in her hands losing 21-17 and with it the dream of the hat trick.

Hsu, visibly deflated and fatigued by the time her women’s doubles came around, had no energy to even put up a fight to Lee & Wu in the women’s doubles final but in the end one victory and two runner up spots for the stylish Chinese Taipei lady was a good week’s work in Lubin.

“It was a long week with many matches but I am still happy with my performances today”

Lin makes up for Belgian Disappointment

In the men’s singles final Lin Yu Hsein made up for the disappointment of loosing out in three sets to Eric Pang in the semi-finals of the Belgian International last week to lift the Polish International in two well-constructed sets against Wang Tzu Wei.

Next year’s edition of the Polish International moves to the state of the at RCS stadium in Lubin as the Polish International continues to go from strength to strength and cements itself on the Badminton Europe Circuit.
