The Phoenix project is being part of the Badminton Europe Regional Projects' programme for the last six years. For the fourth year in a row, one of the Phoenix projects took place in Serbia. This year's edition took place in Kragujevac, from 3-7 July.

The city of Kragujevac and the badminton club "Ravens KG", in cooperation with the Badminton Association of Serbia and Badminton Europe, hosted talented U17 players and coaches from the Balkan Region.

The 13 best U17 players from Romania, Hungary and Serbia - together with 5 coaches - were practicing hard and focused the whole week in the hall of "Druga Kragujevacka Gimnazija" (2. Kragujevac High School).

We have collected some quotes from the participants:

Romanian Badminton Team:

"By taking part in this camp, we learned new training techniques, not only for the singles  but as well for the doubles. The indoor trainings were mostly based on the technical aspect of the game rather than on the physical training."

The outdoor's training, the running part and the footwork in the sand, were quite hard, however very good for improving our on-court skills. Relaxing in the swimming pool after the practice was very beneficial as that made us recover faster. All in all the camp was a very pleasant experience, which we would like to repeat in the future."

Hungarian Badminton Team:

"This Phoenix project camp in Serbia was really good. We’ve enjoyed the training, especially because of its variety. This camp was good for making new friends by hanging out with the players from the other countries. The accommodation and training facilities in Kragujevac were very nice as well. In our spare time we enjoyed the city of Kragujevac. We would like to thank all for giving us such an amazing week, which will stay in our minds forever."

Serbian Badminton Team:

"The camp was very interesting. We had a lot of good time in Kragujevac. Every day we practiced twice with the best players from other participating countries. Trainings were very good. We improved the badminton technique, tactic, as well as the footwork. We really enjoyed staying in Kragujevac and we hope to come back next time for another camp."
