During the 2018 European Junior Championships the first BEC National Umpire Tutor Workshop will take place.
For the first time Badminton Europe invites its Member Associations to nominate participants to its first ever “National Umpire Tutor Workshop” – with the intention of assisting Member Associations to enhance and develop its domestic umpire education system.
Pleased to include umpires
The workshop will be held in Tallinn (Estonia) on 8-9 September 2018, in connection with the 2018 European Junior Championships.
- We are pleased to yet again expand our BASIS program, for the benefit of our Member Associations. To now include education of umpires within own territories is of great satisfaction to us, as it is something we have been requested for by our members, Senior Manager at Badminton Europe, Jimmy Andersen says.
The workshop is intended for individuals who already work with education of umpires in his/her home country – preferably being affiliated to the national association.
Deadline on July 19th
Members of the BEC Umpire Assessment Panel will conduct the workshop, and participating Member Associations will be guided and taught upon “how to bring your national umpires to international level”.
- Education of technical officials, especially umpires, is of great importance to our game, and being able to assist on national level is an important step in the right direction, Andersen says.
Nominations to attend the workshop must be sent to the BEC Office no later than Thursday 19 July – please send an email to umpires@badmintoneurope.com using the enclosed nomination form.
