A piece of history: Huelva darling wins 4th title

The celebration was big when Carolina Marin became the first women’s singles to win four European Championships.


When Carolina Marin goes on court in Spain the expectations are huge, and in the final at the 2018 European Championships the Spanish darling did her job against Russian Evgeniya Kosetskaya, who was seeded four at the Championships.

After a solid performance the European number one won the first game 21-15.

Amazing support
The support from the Spanish fans was incredible and after 35 minutes of play the fans could celebrate the victory of their idol. Carolina Marin won the second game 21-7 against Kosetskaya who won her first ever individual European Championships medal.

- I am amazed by playing in front of this crowd, Carolina Marin said after the final. 

- I didn't want to finish on court today. I just wanted to play a long game. This is something very special to me. I was crying because it is very special to play in front of my home crowd, and I don't know if I will do it again, Marin says.
