Thomas Cup match winner: A great draw

Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus won the match which secured the Thomas Cup trophy for Denmark in 2016. Two years later he is happy about the draw, the Danes got in Bangkok today.

Denmark will be facing Malaysia, Russia and Algeria in the group stage, and the Danish men’s singles Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus is happy about the draw.

- I think it is a great draw. Of course, we have respect for every team, but it is an advance, that we do not meet Thailand and Hong Kong

- Of course, Malaysia will be a challenge, but it is also a World Championship, so it has to be like this. We believe in our self, and the chance to qualify for the knock out stage as group winners are possible, Vittinghus says.

China is the team to beat
Denmark is seeded second in the tournament, and Vittinghus believes that the Danes can defend their title from 2016.

- China is the team to beat, but I think we are just behind them alongside Indonesia and Japan. I believe it is possible to reclaim the title. We now know, we can win, but the level is high, Vittinghus says.

The Thomas & Uber Cup finals will take place in Bangkok from 20-27 May.
