They took revenge – Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl won the 2018 All England Open women’s doubles final beating Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota from Japan.

For the second constructive year the Danish women’s double, who was seeded three in the tournament, had made it to the YONEX All England final. In 2017 the Danes lost but in the 2018 edition for the women’s doubles the Danes got off to a good start leading 11-7 at the interval.

First time since 1981
The Japanese got the momentum after the break, and at 17-17 it was all equal. The Danish defence has over and over again proved, that it is world class, and it was again in the final. The Danes won the first game 21-19.
At the interval in the second game the Japanese led 11-9, but slowly the Danes took control. For the first time since 1981 Europe has a winner in women’s doubles at the All England. The Danes won 21-19 12-18 against Fukushima and Hirota.
- Without the help from our coach Kenneth, I am sure, we could not have won. We had the right tactic today, Christinna Pedersen says.
