Once again the Danish men’s team and the defending Thomas Cup Champions show, that they are the strongest team in Europe. The Danes defeated England 3-1.

In the first men’s singles World number 17, Anders Antonsen faced Rajiv Ouseph, who is currently ranked number 22 in the World. The European Champion, Ouseph won the first game 21-12, while Antonsen won the second 21-15.

The third game was a thriller. Denmark took the lead in the final, when Antonsen took the decider 21-19.

- I made a good coming to 18-18, but he made some good points in the end. He manages the situation well, so now I just hope, that we can pull it off in the men’s doubles, Ouseph said.

2-0 after the first men’s doubles
The first men’s doubles between Chris Langridge and Marcus Ellis from England and Mads Conrad-Petersen and Mads Pieler Kolding gave the second Danish point of the final.

Conrad and Kolding won the match 21-18 21-13.

- We were very focused today. Marcus and Chris have been giving us some difficult matches in the past. It was not easy, so I think we can be very proud, Mads Conrad says.

England back into the tie
The second men’s singles became crucial for the result. Danish Emil Holst got a good start leading against Sam Parsons at the interval.

The momentum changed, and Parsons made the surprise and won the second men’s singles against Holst 21-16 21-10.

- I honestly didn’t think I could win that one. Specially not being down 2-0 in the tie. I felt a lot of pressure, but I am just amazed, that I could win this one, Sam Parsons says.

New doubles in hard fight
In second men’s doubles both nations paired up players, who don’t use to play together: Peter Briggs and Sean Vendy from England and Kim Astrup and Mathias Christiansen from Denmark. And the English got the best start leading 11-4 at the interval. Vendy and Briggs took the first game 21-19.

A thrilling second game gave the Danes the comeback winning 29-27, and in the beginning of the third game the Danes gained control.

Kim Astrup and Mathias Christiansen became match winner for Denmark winning the deciding game 21-12.
