Back-to-back victories for Käsbauer and Konon

The experienced Germans took their first title at Estonia as they are winning back-to-back tournaments for the first time.

Peter Käsbauer and Olga Konon have done well in this edition of Yonex Estonian International, and there was no doubt about the outcome of the final, where the Germans met Jenny Moore and Gregory Mairs from England.

The world number 245 claimed the title winning 21-14 21-12.

- We very extremely focused in this match. Our tactic worked out very well,
Konon told Badminton Europe after the final

- I felt good on court. Moving was good. It was definitely our best match, Käsbauer adds.

Finally victory for Polikarpova
In the women’s singles Israeli Ksenia Polikarpova entered her second final in a row at Yonex Estonian International. This time the Russian born Israeli also claimed the title.

Polikarpova beat Danish youngster Michelle Skødstrup 21-13 21-17.

I am so happy. Finally, I feel I am giving something back, Polikarpova said.


- I was more experienced. She is very talented, and I am sure we will see more of her in the future.


In the men’s singles French Luca Claerbout won the title beating Swedish Jacob Nilsson 21-16 21-6.

Double up for Russia
Russia had a great day on court in Tallinn. Andrey Parakhodin and Nikolai Ukk claimed the men’s doubles title beating German Peter Käsbauer/Johannes Pistorius after a thriller 14-21 21-18 21-19

- It was a big surprise for us. They are very good, and we didn’t expect to finish number one in this tournament, Nikolai Ukk said.  

Russian women’s doubles, Ekaterina Bolotva/Alina Davletova, got a good beginning of the new season. The world number 46 won the title in Tallinn beating Jenny Moore and Jessica Hopton 21-10 21-9
