One of the most anticipated quarter-finals was the match-up between Ksenia Polikarpova (1) and Soraya De Visch Eijbergen (7), but it didn’t become the thriller the spectators in Tallinn could have hoped for.
The two players have met once before – in the 2015 edition of German Open, where the Dutch won in straight games, but this Saturday in Tallinn Ksenia Polikarpova took the first game 21-18.
- I tried to keep concentration. I did that well, so she didn’t know where to play, Polikarpova told Badminton Europe after the match.

Big difference in second game
Polikarpova, who is ranked 61 in the World, had a great start in the second game leading 11-1 at the interval. On the other side of the net Soraya De Visch Eijbergen didn’t try to hide her frustration.
- I lost it all. I made too many errors, which is totally not my game. Every time I was two second behind, the Dutch said.
Ksenia Polikarpova is ready for the semi-final after winning 21-18 21-4.
- I am happy, that I am in the semi-final. I am trying to focus on each game. I am trying to gain confidence. If I am winning, it is good. If I don’t I have to practice more and better, Polikarpova says.
