The third day of FZ Forza Slovenia international was inspired by a tremendous performance of the talented young player Mathias Mundbjerg of Denmark who beat the top seed Malaysian Chun Seang Tan. The Dane, who became 18 today, was later stopped by the Indian Mohit Kamat. The latter will face English player Andrew Smith
(pictured), who beat the local hope and best Slovenian player Iztok Utrosa
. Smith, the former English number one, made a remarkable comeback in the international badminton scene after being off-court for two years.
Slovenian player and Olympic qualifier Maja Tvrdy was beaten by Swiss junior Nicole Schaller. She will meet the title defender Carola Bott of Germany in tomorrow's finals. In the men's doubles, the finals will be played by Croatian pair Zvonimir Hoelbling/Zvonimir Djurkinjak and German pair Andreas Heinz/Jones Ralfi Jansen. Djurkinjak will be the only player being present in two finals as he and Stasa Poznanovic will meet German pair Hannes Kaesbauer and Kira Kattenbeck in the mixed doubles finals as well.
Spela Silvester and Lena Clausen, the last local hope in women's doubles category, lost against a Welsh pair, so the finals will be played by Isabel Herttrich/Inken Wienefeld (Germany) and Sarah Thomas/Carissa Turner (Wales).
