The 16th FZ Forza Slovenia International 2012 started with qualification rounds on Thursday. The only event played in the qualification stage was the men's singles category. There were no bigger surprises and Mathias Mundbjerg, Ruaraidh Sim, Matthias Almer and Manuel Heumann qualified for the main draw.

On Friday, the games flowed smoothly and only two seeded players in the men's singles, German Fabian Hammes and Belgian Maxime Moreels failed to reach the second round. The 3rd seed Kieran Merrilees of Scotland didn't play due to an injury, which allowed Milan Ludik to move into the next round.

Young Danish player Mathias Mundbjerg showed a lot of potential with his progression from the qualifications all the way to the quarter-finals. The biggest surprise in the women's singles was local Kaja Stankovič, who first defeated 5th seeded Nicola Cerfontyne of England and then Belgian Marie Demy to reach the quarter-finals. 6th seed Špela Silvester of Slovenia was the other seeded player in women's singles, who had to say goodby at an early stage of the competition after being defeated by Czech Lucie Cerna in the first round.
