The 2012 Banuinvest International saw three Europeans and two Asians taking the titles home from Timisoara. Marcel Reuter of Germany proved to be the dominant player in the men's singles of this International Series tournament (5.000 US Dollars) as the 29 year-old did not drop a single game in the whole competition. Reuter beat surprising finalist Iztok Utrosa of Slovenia 21-17, 21-17 to win his first season's title.
The young French duo of Laurent Constantin/Sebastian Vincent confirmed its top seeding in the men's doubles category by beating Indonesians Adiartama/Subaktiar in three close games.
The spectators in Timisoara also saw a thrilling final in the women's doubles where the young Danes Line Kjæarsfeldt and Sandra-Maria Jensen beat Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva of Bulgaria to take the title.
The women's singles title went to Japanese Kana Ito who beat her compatriot Ayumi Mine 21-19, 21-12. In the mixed doubles final, Oktaviani/Subaktiar of Indonesia beat Austrians Roman Zirnwald/Elisabeth Baldauf 21-19, 21-18.
The local Romanian players Florentina Constantinescu and Robert Ciobotaru had a good performance on home soil by reaching the quarterfinals in the mixed doubles, but because of Florentina’s injury in a previous women’s doubles match they couldn’t play the quarters.
