In the upcoming weekend, Badminton Europe Confederation (BEC) has called its Board and Commission members to meetings in Copenhagen, Denmark, lasting from January 20th-22th.

Fresh out of the successes in 2016, the BEC gathers at Copenhagen Admiral Hotel to conduct the first Board & Commission Members’ Meeting of the year.

The last meetings in Dubrovnik, Croatia, did not only conclude the year of 2016 but a lot of projects were already then in the startup-phase, and the meetings this coming weekend will be used to discuss their further development.

The year of 2017 also brings with it some fresh starts on brand new projects. First of all, the year of 2017 will be labelled as the 50th Anniversary-year of the Confederation and many preparations come before the celebration at the Annual Delegates Meeting and 5th BEC Awards Gala Evening in Prague, Czech Republic.

And during this anniversary year many new projects will see the light of day, here amongst the BEC Centre of Excellence which are scheduled to start up in September 2017.

BEC General Secretary, Brian Agerbak's comment ahead of the meetings:

“I am looking forward to welcoming the Board and Commissions to Copenhagen this weekend. A weekend full of good discussions is in front of us. Most notably we will discuss the location of the BEC Training Centre of Excellence but we shall also confirm the strategic plan, agree on activities and decide on budgets for this exciting year which marks the 50th Anniversary of the organization.”

The Commissions’ meetings are scheduled as follows during the weekend:
Friday – Member Structures, Sport for All, Major Events, Women in Badminton
Saturday – Para-Badminton, High Performance, Circuits, Fan Base, Commercial, BEC Centre of Excellence bids presentations.
Sunday – Board of Directors meeting
