In close cooperation with the Czech Badminton Federation, Badminton Europe is very excited to welcome the best U17-players from the continent in Prague for the 2017 European U17 Championships.

November 21-29 2017, the Czech capital is welcoming the new bunch of European future stars - same great city which is hosting Badminton Europe's 50th Anniversary Gala in April.

The previous edition of the event was held in Lubin (Poland) in 2016, but with the recent change of age groups in Europe, it was decided to move the event forward into uneven years, not to punish any age groups, potentially missing out on the opportunity of playing this prestigious event. Back in 2005 the Czech Badminton Federation also hosted the European U17 Championships - when the event was only played as a team competition. Back then, the event was successfully organised in the city of Brno.

The venue for the championships will be “Sport Hall Sterboholy”, a venue which has hosted international floorball and tennis events before, as well as national badminton championships.

Since 2009, the European U17 Championships has been played over 9 days - first with a team event, followed by the individual events. Historical results can be seen here - amongst other winners, you can find Olympic medallists Carolina Marin and Viktor Axelsen, who were the first individual winners back in 2009 in Medvode, Slovenia.

The European U17 Championships has its own page on Badminton Europe's website - click here to find more information, and to see streaming highlight from the 2016-edition.
