Polish Mixed doubles Mateusiak/Zieba did not make it through their Quarterfinal this evening, but the Doubles’ Quarterfinals today promiseEuropean pairs who are up for the challenge.

Nothing seems to be getting in the way for the Russian AllEngland-champs Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov, not including the ‘almost Achilles’-situationthey had leading up to the Games. Finishing number one in Group A with threewins, one of them being a victory against no other than Lee Yong Dae/KoryooYeon Seong, they will face Chai Biao/Hong Wei of China in the Quarterfinal setto 9 AM local ime. And if that ends up bringing them another win, they are mostlikely to be head-to-head with the first seeded Koreans again.

In the other half, another European men’s double is throughto the quarters. A thrilling end to Group C, brought Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge(GBR) to beat 3rd seeds Kim Gi Jung/Kim Sa Rang (KOR) and went into their clash with Poland’s Adam Cwalina andPrzemyslaw Wacha knowing that a victory would see them progress. A greatcomeback for Danish duo Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen (DEN) came to an end inthe same group, when they did not manage to win against the 3rdseeded Koreans. Ellis/Langridge will play their Quarterfinal around 9 Am localtime.

Danish ChristinnaPedersen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Dutch Eefje Muskens/Selena Piek are inopposite half’s in women’s doubles’ Quarterfinals. Muskens/Piek finishingsecond in Group A faces 4th seeds Jung Kyung Eun/Shin Seung Chan at8.30 Am local time. The Danes had to win in their last match against Jung/Shinin Group B, and with their victory and with Eva Lee/Paula Lynn Obanana of theUSA reaching above 16 points in their last match – the Danish duo are throughto the Quarters. They are playing against Chang Ye Na/Lee So Hee (KOR) in theQuarterfinal scheduled to 10.30 AM local time.
