Last week the SOTX Team 2012 hold their practice camp in Hungary after participating in the Yonex Hungarian International. From the 2nd of November the players met with their team coach Dan Travers from Scotland. First all players participated in the tournament provided with the support of Dan.

From Sunday on the whole team moved to the practice hall. This provided the players with 3 days full of intensive practice. They SOTX Team Europe 2012 players where joined from some Hungarian players who live and practice in the training centre in Pecs. As the tournament was played in Budapest we all moved to Pecs on Sunday after the finals for the 3 days training.

The Hungarian International started on 2nd of November but it was a qualification day and all SOTX Team Europe players were in the main draw so there were no matches for our group members. Our hotel in Budapest was very nice. It was very close to the hall and a big shopping centre. So the players could walk to the hall but there was also transport from organizer. During the tournament we eat when and where we wanted, Dan gave us a free choice because we all play at different time.

For our players the tournament started on Thursday because the draw was 64. There were some good and some not so good matches but we all played quite well. The best result was made by Akvile - she reached quarterfinals and Nanna and Andrea lost in best 16.

On Saturday we had a chance to practice between quarterfinals and semi-finals but as we were not so many players left we decided to go to lunch and watch the matches in the afternoon. The tournament was very good organized.
On Sunday after the finals we moved to the other place called Pecs which is two and half hour drive from Budapest. We slept in rooms that are part of the badminton hall. On Sunday we practice in the morning in tournament hall and in the evening in Pecs. Training was very good. We did some 3 against 1 attack and defence and also 2V1.
Monday we had morning practice from 9-11.30 we did a lot of technical things with Dan and some 2V1 defence. During the whole camp always some Hungarian players practice with us. We had lunch together in the city and we also walked to see a little bit of Pecs. In the afternoon we played matches because we all do not have really good sparing at home and we all miss some training matches. In the evening we went to a shopping mall together to get dinner and ice cream for Dan.

On Tuesday morning we practiced from 8-10.30. We did again some technical exercises as well as some attack and defence. In the afternoon we had training from 13-15 o’clock as Dan and the other players had to go back to Budapest to catch their flights on Wednesday early morning. In the afternoon practice we again played some matches trying to use the things Dan had showed us. On Tuesday we had lunch together in shopping mall and that was our last meal together. After training in the afternoon I went back home and others went back to Budapest to spend one more night there before they left home.

The camp was very good. We were lucky to have some Hungarian players to spare with us. We thank the Hungarian players who practiced with us during the camp. Dan taught us a lot of new things and he made our training very interesting.
