This year's Slovenia Badminton International, for the 18th time in a row, will take place in Medvode. The Medvode Badminton Club with the help of the Slovenian Badminton Federation continues the tradition of organizing big international badminton competitions. More than 190 players from 25 countries will compete in Thursday's qualifying round.
The top seed in the men's singles event is again Malaysia’s Misbun Ramdan MOHMED MISBUN, No 51 on the
BWF latest world badminton ranking. No 2 seed is Denmark’s Christian Lind. Best ranked Slovenian is Iztok Utroška as the number 4 seed. He has a good chance to reach the semi-finals. Utroska played great on a few tournaments this year and the local organizer hope he can once again deliver a convincing performance in front of his home crowd. Alen Roj is also taking part in the main competition. Other Slovenian players will take part in qualification.

In the women's singles category 60 players have entered for the competition and 32 of them will compete in the main tournament. The local Slovenian player Maja TVRDY, the third seed and No 95 on the latest BWF world badminton rankings, is determined to reach again the podium at Slovenian International after a few years. The top seed in the event is Bulgarian player Stefani Stoeva (No 49). Other Slovenian players will take part in qualification stage.

Top seed in the men's doubles are Russian players Nikita Khakimov in Vasily Kuznetsov, No 41 on the world badminton ranking. Best ranked Slovenians are Iztok Utrosa and Alen Roj. No 1 seed in the women’s doubles are Bulgarian sisters Stefani and Gabriela Stoeva (No 28). Mixed doubles No 1 seed, Alzbetova Basova in Jakub Bitman, ranked 71 in the world, come from Czech Republic.
