Badminton Europe announces qualified athletes and awards Wild Cards to German contenders for the prestigious 2024 European Championships in Saarbrücken.

The much-awaited 2024 European Championships, taking place from 8 to 14 April in Saarbrücken, Germany, are drawing near. With the official announcement from Badminton Europe, the lineup of qualified athletes across all categories is now set. Here is the breakdown of qualifiers for each category:
Three Wild Cards granted to the host
Badminton Europe has allocated three Wild Cards to esteemed German players/pairs for this event.

Matthias Kicklitz has been awarded a Wild Card in Men's Singles. Kicklitz has recently been crowned Germany’s national champion. He has also won the title at both the Lithuanian International and Iceland International on the European Circuit last year and delivered commendable performances with the German squad at the 2024 European Men’s Team Championships.

In Men’s Doubles, Jones Jansen/ Kenneth Neumann received a Wild Card, as did Jones Jansen/ Thuc Phuong Nguyen in Mixed Doubles. Both pairs have shown their skills on the European Circuit, notably with Jansen/ Nguyen clinching a title at the Estonian International this year.

These athletes are considered fully deserving of Wild Cards, recognised not only for their competitive edge at the European Championships but also for their potential to significantly contribute to the event, energising the home audience with their performances.

Keep an eye out for further updates as we approach the 2024 European Championships.
