Rising contenders triumph in Tallinn

The YONEX Estonian International 2024 wrapped up yesterday in Tallinn's Kalevi Sports Hall, showcasing the rise of new partnerships and powerful contenders in the European Circuit.

In the mixed doubles, the recently formed German pair of Jones Ralfy Jansen/ Thuc Phuong Nguyen demonstrated their growing synergy, securing a victory in the finals over Swedish newcomers Ludwig Axelsson/Jessica Silvennoinen, 21-14 21-18.

The women's doubles final was a highlight. The thrilling match saw Türkiye’s duo Bengisu Ercetin/ Nazlıcan Inci outplaying England’s Chloe Birch, European Games and European Championships medallist, and her new partner Estelle Van Leeuwen. The Turkish pair triumphed with a 23-21, 16-21, 21-8 finish.

In men's doubles, the Singaporean duo of Loh Kean Hean/ Low Sheng Yan Nicholas claimed the title. They overcame the second-seeded Bulgarian pair Ivan Rusev/ Iliyan Stoynov, 21-18 21-8.

Shifting to singles, Finland's Joakim Oldorff, standout player European Circuit who is currently ranked second, continued his impressive form by winning the men's singles title. He defeated Ukraine's Danylo Bosniuk, who struggled with an injury, in a commanding 21-5 21-13 final.

In the women's singles, France's Rosy Oktavia Pancasari faced India's Devika Sihag, who had battled her way from the qualifiers. The French player triumphed in straight games, 21-19 21-14.
