Winners from three continents in Tallinn

The YONEX Estonian International 2023 took place in the second week of the year, from 12 until 15 January.  

Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, was home to the first Circuit tournament of 2023. Players from PanAm, Europe, and Asia participated in this International Series event. 

The fifth-seeded mixed doubles pair, Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch (Denmark) won first place against Malik Bourakkadi and Leona Michalski (Germany). Yushi Tanaka (Japan) was the winner in men’s singles and Huang Yu-Hsun (Chinese Taipei) in women’s singles. The men’s and women’s doubles were also dominated by non-European players: Shuntaro Mezaki/ haruya Nishida (Japan) and Paula Lynn Cao Hok/ Lauren Lam (USA). 
 
Alex Lanier (France), the winner of the previous edition of the YONEX Estonian International, YONEX Canada Open 2022, and the 2022 European Junior Championships finished in second place.  

Kristin Kuuba (Estonia), who also won the 2022 edition of the Estonia International, secured the silver medal this year. Julien Maio and William Villeger (France) finished in second place in men’s doubles, as well as Moa Sjoo and Tilda Sjoo (Sweden) in women’s doubles.
