An amazing 2023 season of Para badminton comes to an end, anticipation builds for the Paralympics, and the Para badminton world prepares for an exhilarating start to 2024.
The journey through 2023 has been a stellar one for our European Para athletes, with a calendar comprising 18 tournaments spanning five continents. Each event provided a stage for showcasing their skills while also earning valuable points along the way, all in anticipation of the grand Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
The qualification odyssey started in February in Spain, and the 2023 season concluded just last week with a flourish at the 5th Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International 2023.
But fret not, the hiatus without Para badminton showdowns won't be too long. In just over a month, the action resumes with the Egypt Para Badminton International 2024, taking place 23 to 28 January in Cairo, Egypt. This event will play a pivotal role in the remaining stops on the Road to Paris.
Culminating the qualification journey is the NSDF ROYAL CLIFF BEACH BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2024, scheduled from 20 to 25 February in Pattaya, Thailand. It stands as the final opportunity for athletes to amass world ranking points crucial for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games qualification.
March 31 marks the official conclusion of the qualification process, where the Badminton World Federation's Race to Paris rankings will finalise 120 slots across 16 medal events.
In addition to these important events, the Para badminton calendar for 2024 boasts seven more confirmed tournaments, with three exciting contests set to be competed on European soil.
