Swiss Open's crucial clashes underway

The YONEX Swiss Open 2024 moves to the crucial rounds. With qualification wrapped up on Tuesday and the first round concluded yesterday, today’s competitors will be battling for their spots in the quarter-finals.

The tournament witnessed yesterday some standout performances from European players. Unseeded Alex Lanier from France scored a significant victory against the eighth seed Koki Watanabe, 22-20, 18-21, 21-19. Another highlight was a closely contested match between Denmark's Magnus Johannesen and France's Arnaud Merkle, with Johannesen emerging victorious, 18-21, 21-18, 21-19.

Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt from Denmark also overcame a challenging match against Japan's Natsuki Nidaira, securing her advancement with a 13-21, 21-18, 21-15 win. Other notable advancements include top seed Carolina Marin from Spain, French pair Margot Lamber/Anne Tran, the Dutch duo Robin Tabeling/Selena Piek, along with Danish players Rasmus Gemke, Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje, Julie Dawall Jakobsen, and Line Christophersen.

The Round of 16 starts today at 12pm (CET). Matches can be streamed live on BWF.TV.
