YONEX German Open: Day 2

The YONEX German Open 2024 dove into its first full day of main draw action. With triumphs and defeats, many Europeans are advancing to the next round.

One of the highlights of today's matches was the all-French battle between Toma Junior Popov and Alex Lanier. After a setback in the first game, Lanier bounced back to win 18-21, 21-16, 21-11. He is set to take on Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke tomorrow.

In a close match, fifth seeds Robin Tabeling/ Selena Piek, Netherlands, overcame the challenge posed by Indonesia’s Dejan Ferdinansyah/ Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, a pair they had never defeated before. The Dutch duo emerged victorious, 21-19, 17-21, 23-21.

Many Europeans are advancing to the Round of 16, with players getting closer to the crucial stages. For a full list of today’s results, click here.
