World-class badminton in Wales

Badminton Europe is bringing exclusive special coverage from the YONEX Welsh International Badminton Championships 2023 from one of the world’s oldest and established badminton international tournaments. 

As the Qualification rounds are finishing up, the main rounds of the Welsh International are shaping up to be exciting badminton for all fans. With many talents from the hosting country and its neighboring countries all the way to exciting talent from France, Ukraine, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Brunei. 

Among the top contenders to look out for are: Frenchman Lucas Claerbout (7), the winner of the Belgian International 2023, and Czech favorite Jan Louda (1), last year’s Welsh International runner up who is looking at finishing up a successful year with a third championship after winning the YONEX Czech Open 2023 and III Mexican International Challenge 2023. In the Women’s Doubles, the number one seeded Bulgarian sisters Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva are looking at getting a fourth championship in 2023 after winning the European Games, the Scottish Open, and Bahrain International Challenge. 

We will also be sure to look out for Slovakia’s Milan Dratva and Dane Irina Amallie Andersen, both hailing from the RSL BEC Center of Excellence.

Here's the schedule for the tournament (all indicated in CET):
  • Wednesday, 29th: Qualification rounds from 10am
  • Thursday, 29th: Main round from 10am
  • Friday, 1st: Round of 16 from 11am; Quarterfinals from 4pm
  • Saturday, 2nd: Semifinals from 11am; Finals from 4pm
