The sixteen coaches gathered once again to keep developing their coaching careers. This time, the Scottish National Center facilities, the Sir Craig Reedie Centre, welcomed them for five intense days.

“I’ve been involved from the beginning of the project and also with my mentees. However, this is the first time I get to meet them face to face. It feels nicer. I really value the exchanges of opinions and inputs of other coaches”, stated Ingo Kindervater, Head Coach of the Scottish National Team and tutor of the ADVANCE education.

The third course was planned with a very busy programme, as expected. One of the topics discussed from the beginning of this ADVANCE education was learning theories, and this time was the perfect occasion to dig deeper into it.

“I think this time, the 16 coaches have been able to use different approaches way better than the first time. I am impressed by the way they have implemented it. I am very happy with what I’ve seen here”, shared Kenneth Larsen, Ph.D. and former National Coach of Badminton Denmark.

Learning theories was only an ounce of what was delivered in the third course. Communication styles, fundamental concepts such as uniqueness and recognition, doubles and mix tactics, how to create a playing concept, and the continuation of the coaching philosophy were very present topics during the whole week.

“It was another great week for the face-to-face ADVANCE course. They all did a great job, and it is nice to see how they develop. It becomes clearer and clearer for them how all the information is received, and tasks are linked. We see a clear development.  I can’t wait to see them again in Germany. On top of that, they’re bonding very well and making the experience very fun”, said Jacob Oehlenschlaeger, BEC Development and High Performance Senior Manager.

The gathering in Scotland came to an end today, but the ADVANCE education hasn’t just yet. The ADVANCERS will meet once again on German soil, in Saarbrücken, from 24 to 30 June 2023 to finalise the ADVANCE journey.
