Badminton Europe (BEC) is delighted to announce that the 40th edition of the RSL BEC Summer School will take place for the first time in Lahti, Finland from 4-11 July 2022. Here is all that you need to know about this ambitious event.
The RSL BEC Summer School is a combination of a training camp for talented junior players (U15) and a BWF Coach Education Level 2 course open to all European nations.
Every summer for the past 38 years, young badminton players and aspiring coaches have had the opportunity to play badminton and gain experience during their summer holiday.
Where is it?
The Pajulahti Olympic and Paralympic Training Centre in Lahti, just over 100km northeast of Helsinki, provides high quality facilities for hosting such an event. Pajulahti’s training centre is surrounded by beautiful nature and lovely lake next to it. Just take a look at the photo above.
BEC Development and High Performance Senior Manager Jacob Oehlenschlaeger is really satisfied the Summer School is coming to Finland for the first time.
-Lahti has previous experience delivering our events successfully with the European Junior Championships in 2020. One of our most traditional and historical events will welcome 64 players for the camp and 24 coaches for coach education level 2 course, which I think it’s a good step forward.
A great summer to come
Director of Pajulahti Olympic and Paralympic Training centre Tero Kuorikoski is equally excited about the upcoming event and is confident it will be a great occasion for all.
-The 2020 European Junior Championships was a great experience for the Pajulahti Olympic and Paralympic training centre. Sure, there were challenges due to the pandemic, but in the end, we were able to host a successful championships scale event during the pandemic.
-Now, looking towards summer 2022, we are again thrilled to host another important event together with BEC. I’m sure the Summer School 2022 edition will be a high-quality experience for young players around Europe. We will use all our expertise in order to make this RSL BEC Summer School unique and memorable.
