Eight pairs will be fighting for medals in Tokyo.

Cheryl Seinen and Selena Piek will be the European representatives in the final stage of the Olympics women’s doubles tournament.

The defending European Games Champion finished second after winning the crucial match up against Honderich and Tsai from Canada.

- We knew there were chances to go through. It was nice to win the two matches and to show some good level against Matsumoto/Nagahara, Cheryl Seinen said.

In the quarterfinals, Piek and Seinen will be facing Lee Soo-hee and Shin Seung-chan from Korea. The Koreans lost in the group stage to Sara Thygesen/Maiken Fruergaard, Denmark.

It will be the second match up between the two pairs. The Koreans lead the head-to-head 1-0.

The women’s doubles quarterfinals will be taking place on the 29 July.
