For our sixth episode, we talk to Europe’s strongest women’s doubles pair, the Stoeva sisters.

Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva are Europe’s number one women’s doubles duo and they have been occupying the spot for quite some time now. Their latest achievement took place just a few days after sitting down to talk in this episode, winning their third European Championships medal and their second gold of the same tournament.

Time off to fuel new ambitions
The European champions have returned in good shape after the huge break due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The sisters discuss what it has been like going back to Bulgaria for a long period and after setting their base in France.

From recharging and enjoying some family time to kickstarting new projects such as starting university, the Stoevas made the most out of the months with no tournaments, but there are also many things that they missed in France.

The last year has been a period of many changes, and most badminton players have also taken the chance to reconsider several aspects and changed to be made. The top women’s doubles give their opinion on the scoring system and the level of European doubles pairs. It seems like they’re sitting comfortably on the top, but they know many of their opponents are upping their game.

-I think it has now changed and Europe has improved a lot in the doubles categories.

With many targets to fuel their motivation and even a possible date for the retirement in the future, the inseparable sisters gave an insightful conversation that you can hear in full in this week’s episode on https://www.badmintoneurope.tv and on all streaming platforms:
