We catch up with Isabel Herttrich in a new episode of the BEC Podcast where the German doubles player talks about leadership and what’s to come.

Isabel Herttrich has been in the game for a long time now, but she is not ready to leave. In fact, quite the opposite as she has shown in the episode for our new season of the BEC Podcast. Recorded during the European Championships in Kyiv, the 29-year-old player was about to win a mixed doubles bronze with her partner Mark Lamsfuss — their second one in this tournament.

Herttrich looks at the past few months and despite the hardships brought by the pandemic, she looks back with optimism, just as she does to the future.

The doubles player gives us an insight into what it is like for her and other players to quarantine in hotel rooms and also speaks about the huge importance of coaches, that person who is always behind players but is oftentimes overlooked by fans.

The player also talks about the big pressure of being part of one of the world’s top mixed doubles pairs, and about the many things waiting ahead: the important upcoming events this year and, when retiring comes, continuing her studies with a Masters. There are many options for Herttrich, but there is one thing she knows for sure.

-I won’t stop now, for sure. It’s not the time to say “I’m done”, to make such a big decision.
