With just days left until the 2021 European Mixed Team Championships, we take it in turns to look at each of the eight teams competing to be crowned the best in Europe.
Netherlands Group 2 opponents: England, Russia and France.
The Dutch team is for sure a team to watch this year. With a strong men’s singles and doubles, the team is travelling to Finland aiming for at least for a medal, but they also believe they can do better than in 2019, where they clinched the bronze medal.
The Dutch team looked strong in the qualification, despite key players such as Ruben Jille, Selena Piek and Robin Tabeling not attending. With Mark Caljouw at his best, the Dutch team can win at least three matches against most teams on their day.
At the 2020 European Men’s Team Championships, the Dutch team scored an emotional and memorable win over France in the semifinal to win the silver, their first medal ever medal. This may put them in good stead when facing France once again in the group.
