Denmark’s best women’s singles player, Mia Blichfeldt, are through to the next round after a win on homecourt.

Blichfeldt was facing the Slovakian player, Martina Repiska. The two players met once before at the European Games in 2019, here the Dane won 21-11 21-11. Today Blichfeldt could turn the head to head into 2-0, as she won 21-7 21-8.

- I am very happy and I think I had a good mindset on court. I did not give Martina (Repiska) anything for free, so she had to work hard to make her points, Blichfeldt said.

The Dane had a big lead in both games around the intervals, still she and the coach talked a lot in those intervals. Taking us through what they talked about, Blichfeldt said.

- We were talking about how it was important for me to keep being relaxed and not too aggressive, play the rallies and find the court.

Playing without pain

Blichfeldt will play either Emilie Hamang from Norway or Yaelle Hoyaux from France in the next round. Asking how she will prepare for that match, as she has never played any of the two players, she said.

- We are not allowed to go into the hall, so I will go home and be ready for tomorrow and do some recovery.

It has been seven months since Blichfeldt last stepped on court at an international tournament, All England 2020. Talking about what she has been working with in the last seven months, she said.

- I have been working a lot with my physical strength and I have been struggling a little with my knee, but the last three weeks I have been doing really well and I am very pleased that I can stand here today with no pain.
