Due to the current situation, the cantonal crisis management team of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft has confirmed, that the YONEX Swiss Open 2020 can take place - but without spectators.

-It is a great pity for the badminton fans and for us as organisers that the anniversary edition (30 years) of the Swiss Open is affected. Of course, we respect the decision of the crisis team. Health always comes first. Now, despite these circumstances, we are doing everything we can to ensure that the event is held to the usual high standards for the players. From a sporting point of view, we and the Badminton World Federation (BWF) are happy that the event can take place and that the athletes can play for Olympic qualification points here in Basel, said tournament organiser Christian Wackernagel.

The HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament, with a world-class list of participants will be streamed live on SRF.

Further information will be announced at the end of the week, as the Federal Council is expected to publish a next update on the coronavirus on Friday 13 March.
