Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen will play Chris Langridge and Marcus Ellis in the European Games Men’s Doubles final.

Two of the absolute top pair of European Men’s Doubles met in the first of two semi-finals Friday evening:

The former All England winners and runner-up at the 1st European Games 2015, Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov met the defending European Champions and top seeds, Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Kim Astrup.

Fun to be on court
After an intense first game the Danes took the lead winning 21-17. For the second straight year Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen made it to a major European final, winning the second game 21-17.

- I am very pleased to play at this level again. I can say, that I truly enjoyed it today. It is not always fun to be at the court – sometimes you feel a lot of pressure, but today we enjoyed it, and it was very very funny, Astrup said.

- We have never been at a multi-sport event and to perform at a place like this has been very important for us. It is a big Championships, and I think we performed well, and it is not every day you are in a final, Skaarup added.

Veterans ready for another final
In the second semi-final Chris Langridge and Marcus Ellis, Great Britain, met Dutch Jelle Maas/Robin Tabeling.

Langridge and Ellis have more than once shown that they know how to handle a multi-sport event winning bronze medals at the Olympics and winning the Commonwealth Games. The GB’s are ready to play for another gold medal. Langridge and Ellis won in straight games 21-18 21-16.

- We are both pleased with the way we played. Through out 75 percent we stuck to the game plan, and I think that was effective for us today, Chris Langridge said.

The Men’s Doubles final will take place on Saturday.
