Silver medallists from Glasgow 2017, have gone one better this year and won the gold medal they deserve.

The consistent performers this season and number one seeds were confident going into to the final against their fellow Chinese pair, Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping. They are a pair they know so well and have not lost to them in their 4 competitive encounters.

However, as we saw in the almost identical situation in the Women’s Doubles, the final of the World Championships adds a different kind of pressure, and you have to work hard to get over the line. And they did just that, weathering a great effort from Wang and Huang in the second game. Sealing the title 21-17, 21-19.

This also makes Zheng Siwei the first player to win the Junior Mixed Doubles World Championship, and then to go on and win the senior one too.
