A long road ahead for the Irish star
Jonathan Dolan believes that right now, it is about getting back fit on the court, and improving his level in a series of tournaments, and wanting to compete in over ten tournaments over the year.
- I am just doing a two-and-a-half-month stint of high-intensity training to improve my level. I have the Hellas International in Greece. That will be my first tournament to build up my world ranking.
- I am hoping to play in around eleven tournaments between April and December. That’s the plan at the moment going forward. I will start to play in some of the weaker tournaments to qualify after being injured.
- Even for me to get to the Semi-Final or Quarter Final would be an achievement for me in some of the earlier tournaments, because it would mean that I have gone through six matches in two days which is very tough.
The plan going forward
The 23-year old will be hoping that his knee injury has gone now as he looks forward to tournaments this year, and wants to win things.
- Initially, I would say that it is about me playing consistently, and competing on a constant basis in tournaments. Dolan told Badminton Europe.
- I would like to get myself into winning positions in tournaments and be competing for medals after I have got back to being fit and healthy. He commented.
- Setting short-term goals is the right way to go about things because it is about taking it in small steps. I will make sure that I am preparing in the best way to compete with all of the other players, now that I am finally getting over my injury which has been a long time coming. He added.
