For the second edition of Solibad Day, scheduled on September 29th 2012, more than 100 cities all over the world have announced their participation in the world’s biggest Flashmob ever. Some of the planet’s most famous badminton stars, right after their Olympics campaigns, will lead the steps of the choreography for a unique moment of sport and solidarity, to promote the actions of Solibad – Badminton without Borders
Peter Gade, Denmark’s Legend, Pi Hongyan, France’s badminton jewel, Nathan Robertson, England’s best ever player and many other top shuttlers will be leading their respective flashmobs all around the world, one year after the first Solibad Day where 65 cities from 43 different countries had participated in the joyful event.
“To put it the most simple way.... This is a great day - a great event - a great cause...be a part of unique moment together with the rest of us and join us” said Peter Gade, who had been part of the first Flashmob on June 5th 2011 and who is one of Solibad’s main Ambassadors.
“This time, the event will be even bigger with almost twice as many cities participating, with new comers from very remote places in Oceania, or big cities like New York City for instance. This will also be an opportunity for all organizers all around the world to raise funds to help some of our new projects – amongst which one in Brazil where a Brazilian badminton academy takes children out of their violent environment” said Raphael Sachetat, founder of Solibad.
“This is a joyful way to promote our actions all over the world, but also to make the sport better known. The choreography will be different from last year and some surprises are expected everywhere in the world” added Sachetat
Amongst the most noticeable places where the event will be taking place, Los Angeles, Auckland, Paris, London, Tel Haviv, Teheran, Roma, Fiji Islands, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and many other smaller cities will be part of this unique event – Solibad’s latest Flashmob in 2011 had already broken the world record of flashmobs held on the same day. This edition will definitely be an even bigger success. Timisoara, Romania, was the 100th city to join but more cities are announcing their participation as time goes by.
