Seven Europeans were elected to the BWF Council. Two of them will be joining for the very first time.

On 22 May 2021, the BWF members were to elect the new BWF Council at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). 20 vacant spots were to be filled and seven of the spots were for European candidates.

The seven newly elected European BWF Council members are:

Nora Perry, England (253 votes)
Emma Penelope Mason, Scotland (215 votes)
David Cabello, Spain (212 votes)
Ella Diehl, Russia (209 votes)
Etienne Thobois, France (199 votes)
Robbert de Kock, Switzerland (193 votes)
Sven Serré, Belgium (188 votes)

Former top player, Ella Diehl and Badminton Europe Director, Sven Serré, are new members on the BWF Council.

Strong candidates
Badminton Europe General Secretary, Brian Agerbak, took part in the AGM, and he is pleased that seven strong candidates were elected.

- On behalf of Badminton Europe I would like to congratulate all the seven candidates on the election. Europe once again will be represented by strong candidates, and Badminton Europe is looking forward to working with the seven BWF Council members, Brian Agerbak, stated.

- Furthermore, I am pleased that three of the Badminton Europe Directors are to be found on the BWF Council, and I am sure that the synergy, which we have also seen in the past, will be an advantage for both Badminton Europe and for BWF.

For two other Europeans 2021 was re-election year: Paul Kurzo was re-elected as Vice President-Para Badminton and Poul-Erik Høyer, Denmark, was elected for another term as BWF President.
